  • The deadline to register for Hanoi GT Heat I is 18th March 2021.

IV. The Tournament’s detailed regulations

1. Common rules:

  • Hanoi 40k GT Heat I follows the latest Rules, Codex, Errata, FAQs from Games Workshop published right before the tournament. If there is a new Codex, Erratas released during the tournament, the Organisers will keep the old rules.
  • Attending players will be divided into 2 groups if the number of registrants is 12, 16, 20, 24. In any other cases, there will be one big group.
  • The tournament will be organised in weeks, 3 first weeks for the group stage while the last week is for the Semi-finals and the Final. The pairings for the group stage will follow the Swiss system where the players of similar record will be paired against each other. The 4 highest ranked players (2 best in 2 groups, or 4 best in 1 group) will proceed to the Semi-final.
  • During the group stage, no matter the record, players will never meet another player twice. In the Semi-Final, players will not meet the one they just met in the Third Round.
  • Before the Group stage takes place, on Sunday 21st March at the latest, attending players will send their 1000 point list to the Iron Hammer organisers. This list will be published all on Monday and will be kept until the end of the group stage. In the Semi-finals, qualified players may change into 1250 point list and keep it till the end of the tournament.
  • Warlord traits, relics, psychic spells and prayers (and similar powers) that are declared at the start of the games can be changed per match.
  • All the games will use the Matched Play Missions in the Chapter Approved 2020: Grand Tournament. At 1000 point game of the Group stage, players will use Missions: Incursion, while at 1250 point game of later stages, Missions: Strike Force will be utilised.
  • In the 1000 point games, the standard Command point capital at the start is 6, while in the 1250 point games, the standard CP capital is 9.
  • Players can change their list and increase their army’s points in the semi-final and Final but cannot change their (sub)factions as well as the number of (sub)factions. For example: at group Stage, Mr B plays 1000 point alliance of Black Templars and Order of Sacred Rose, then at semi-final his 1250 point list also has to feature this two subfactions (and not Ravenguards – Order of Ebon Chalice).
  • Players must prepare at least one copy of their Army list to show to the referee and opponent during the match. If there is any fault in the list or attending the match without a list copy, the player will be subtracted 20 Victory points after the match.
  • During a group stage match, the player who garners the most Victory points (or force their opponent to surrender) will get 6 Tournament points (TPs), a draw in VPs gets both player 2 Tournament points, and a losing player gets 0 TP.
  • If a player is suddenly busy or he may feel hopeless in the match, he can surrender. In such a case, he will get 0 TP and 0 VP whereas his opponent will get full 6 TPs and 90 VPs (and another 10 VPs if his armywide models have all at least 3 colors).
  • The total Tournament points will decide the rank of players in groups. In the case of similar TPs, the accumulated Victory points will be used to finalise the ranking.
  • In the progress to the Semi-finals, if two (or more) players have the same TPs and VPs, either a play-off will take place or if the players mutually agree, a simple roll-off will do.

2. Model rules:

  • All Games Workshop and Forge World models are allowed.
  • Fake miniatures are banned in this tournament.
  • We encourage players to mod, but please be realistic and ask the organized beforehand about some really ‘creative’ models.
  • The armies that attend the Hanoi GT Heat I must have at least 3 colour paint minimum or players will be substracted 10 Vps during each match.
  • We discourage proxy in this prestigeous tournament but if you intend to bring any, please ask for the organisers’ approval first.

3. Terrain Rules:

  • All terrains will have a Datacard with all their properties printed on it next to them during any match and players just need to follow those cards to play the game smoothly.
  • During the group stage, players are allowed to choose either 30”x48” map or 48’’x48’’ map and set up terrain themselves. But at the later stages, the map will be 48’’x48’’ and the organisers will set up terrain.

V. Special notification

  • This is the first time Iron Hammer will allow players themselves to be the umpire of the group stage and support the tournament they play. During the matches without the present of the main arbiter, Xenoph, Iron Hammer will designate a player to solve any contesting issues that arise. Still, Iron Hammer trust all the attending players to be knowlegeable and gentlemanly to solve any problem themselves without resorting to a ref.
  • Players should prepare their own copy of their list, their dice, measurer, and their own army’s rule (on electronic devices allowed).
